In January 2024, the allegation that a vintage stuffed pike was evidence of trustees’ bias towards one of four principle beneficiaries of an estate valued at GBP6.8 million reeled in professionals, press and public alike.[1] However, this detail was a drop in the ocean in this family battle, a case that put the spotlight on the discretionary powers of trustees in the application of trust assets.
