SCI's the limit

François Mouniélou provides a guide to owning a French property via an SCI

A Société Civile Immobilière (SCI) is a French company created by at least two individuals acquiring one or more real estate assets together. Its purpose is to hold and administer real estate assets for the benefit of the shareholders.

The process for establishing an SCI includes drafting articles of association, identifying shareholders and specifying its purposes. The company must then be registered with the French authorities and its existence must be published in a legal gazette. No minimum capital is required.
