Matthew Braithwaite discusses best practice when onboarding newly qualified practitioners

For law firms in the northern hemisphere, the summer months are generally when job offers are made to trainees for a post-qualification role from September onwards. Law firms, and other industries at the equivalent time in their recruitment cycle, will then need to consider how to help newly qualified practitioners (NQs) manage the step up from trainee to qualified practitioner. This requires a training and development programme designed not only to help the NQ but also to help the firm manage risk and support talent retention.
